1. Idaho has a State Board of Massage Therapy
Idaho massage therapists are licensed through the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL). Beginning May 19, 2025, the Idaho Board of Massage Therapy began transitioning from annual license renewals to biennial (every two years) license renewals. The transition is being phased in based on each licensee's birth year.
2. Previous Idaho Continuing Education Requirements
Under Idaho's former administrative rules, licensed massage therapists were required to complete:
6 continuing education (CE) hours each year
Beginning with the second license renewal
Including 1 hour of Ethics
Up to 6 CE hours could be carried over to the following renewal year
Licensees were required to retain CE records for five years and were subject to random audit.
3. Current Renewal Information
Interestingly, the current Idaho Board of Massage Therapy website focuses on the transition to biennial licensure but does not currently publish specific continuing education requirements for massage therapists. The Board explains the new renewal schedule, fees, and licensing transition but does not include a page outlining current CE requirements.

How Our NCBTMB Approved Courses Meet North Dakota Requirements
How Our NCBTMB Approved Courses Meet Idaho Requirements
Idaho massage therapists are licensed through the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL), which is currently transitioning to a biennial (every two years) license renewal cycle.
Historically, Idaho required 6 continuing education hours annually, including 1 hour of Ethics, and accepted continuing education from NCBTMB Approved Providers when the courses were germane to the practice of massage therapy. ( For Yearly renewal)
However, the current Idaho Board website no longer publishes massage-specific continuing education requirements and has not issued updated guidance regarding NCBTMB-approved courses under the new biennial renewal system.
Our courses are approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB)and are an excellent choice for Idaho massage therapists seeking to expand their clinical skills, meet professional development goals, or maintain NCBTMB Board Certification. Because the Idaho Board has not yet published updated continuing education guidance, therapists should verify current renewal requirements directly with the Idaho Board before relying on any continuing education course for license renewal.
Our 12-CE Advanced Acupressure Techniques for Musculoskeletal Pain course provides in-depth training in evidence-informed pain relief techniques that can immediately enhance clinical practice.
We also offer a 2 different Medical Ethics Courses covering professional ethics, patient communication, documentation, confidentiality, and standards of care. (See Below)
